Calabur Cafe by DAY and by NIGHT! - Bondi

If anyone asks me about brunch and/or dinner around Bondi Junction area, I usually tell them to try Calabur - the new kid on the block and the fact that it might not be really visible from the main road doesn't hinder their chances of being a hidden gem!

Inspired by Calabur plant in front of their house, 4 friends decided to open this lovely place - not that big but feel so homey and warm upon entering. Serving Western menu with Asian touch during the day and the other way round with additional bar at night, this place has embraced the "sous vide" cooking style - sort of like poaching the meat in its own juice in the plastic bag to get a precise succulent, noticeable juicier and definitely more tender meat.

Delicious Journey accross MEKONG on Kensington Street - Chippendale

If my school memory serves me right, Mekong is actually one of the longest river in Asia that flows and forms the border between Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and even Vietnam! But I guess enough of the geography lesson for now and let's talk more about this latest addition to Kensington Street and the food they offer~

When Haven Does Egg Waffles - Surry Hills

I’ve been following Haven since the first day they opened and surprised me with their fusion yet creative dishes. And now here I am updating my post with so much Egg-citement as Haven recently introduced a new menu series!

Brainwave - CBD

Brainwave Cafe is a new addition to Ultimo area tucked down an alley off Harris Street serving modern Australian dishes with some twists from Thai and Vietnamese flavours.

White Taro - Surry Hills

White Taro, a newly opened cafe in Surry Hills, is joining the list of some of the famous dining spots in the neighborhood with its range of Vietnamese-fusion menu. They serve an all day menu and I can say taro is definitely not their signature dish. LOL!

Blaq Piq - CBD

Blaq Piq has just recently opened but it has already been creating a buzz on social media lately. At first I thought they would open as a BBQ place with its name sounds like a black pig (plus their cute pig tail logo), but they turn out serving Asian-fusion brunch!

Top 7 Places to Visit in Canberra!

Spring is here.. Bird is chirping.. Flowers are blooming.. Bla bla bla.. It's a clear sign for a quick weekend GETAWAY for both of us!

Only a short three hour drive from Sydney, Canberra is packed with Australia's history and culture, tasty food, bike riders, roundabouts and all those magic make Canberra attractive on its own way.

When it comes to a getaway, I'm sure everyone has their own to do list and some special places to eat. In case you don't, here are our top 7 places we'd love to share with you!

Little Hutong - Little Bay

"What does Hutong mean?" - That's the first question Mr. Nomnom asked when I told him there's a relatively new place in Eastern suburb called Little Hutong.

I started googling and found it actually means a type of narrow lane or alleyway in a traditional residential area in China where many of the Chinese cooking styles and tastes we know now emerged from those small back lanes. Little Hutong hold this concept close as they combine the authentic flavours from Penang, Japanese, Chinese and Peranakan food with high quality of raw ingredients and thus create a high standard for their own authentic taste!

Cafe Oratnek - Redfern

I would see Redfern in different way now with the addition of Cafe Oratnek opened by Chef Kentaro "Kenny" Takayama, ex-Bills head chef, located just behind the Prince Alfred Park and surrounded by the retail space and residential area.

Named after the chef's first name in reverse (Kentaro - Oratnek), this place offers some fresh Asian influence to its menu and produce everything mostly in-house (with the exception of Brickfields bread and Mecca coffee).

Hungry Wolf - Wollongong

Located opposite Wollongong's best and popular Howlin' Wolf Bar is the new established little brother, Hungry Wolf.. Serving American style dishes with some Asian twist, this new cafe brings an exciting mix to the big brother's relaxed and casual atmosphere with its fresh and hearty food..

Kin by US - Macquarie Park

We know that there'll be a new cafe opens near Macquarie Shopping Centre.. But, we're still not sure what kind of cafe it will be.. UNTIL.. one day we saw some posters on their wall and "KIN by US" was written on it..

Still.. it didn't ring any bell at that time until we read an article talking about the couple behind "Kin Cafe", Uel and Shannelle Lim..
