The Nomnoms' List - 5 Best Cafes and Coffee Shops in Bangkok!

What comes to your mind when you hear someone says "Bangkok"?
I guess most of you will think about SHOPPING, MASSAGE and THAI FOOD..
Don't deny it! ;D

But we actually think that there are much more surprises Bangkok can offer especially with their selection of cafes and coffee shops..

Here is a list of our 5 favourite cafes that are worth checking out!

I hope that this list will be useful to you when you are visiting the city. Have fun on your cafe hopping adventure!

ROOTS COFFEE ROASTER

It is a boutique coffee roastery on the quieter side of Soi Ekamai. I guess it's easier for you to use public transport to go here since Roots has no parking lots.

If you are going to visit Roots, be sure that you really are here for coffee as there will be no other choices, except some range of baked pastries to accompany your coffee. Mr. Nomnom's favourites are their Almond Croissant and Cronuts~~

What we really like about Roots is that it uses a Honesty Box system where you pay the amount that you think it's worth for the coffee and freshly baked pastries.
They also give you suggested price of THB100 for coffee and THB50 for baked goods if you are not sure what is the standard reasonable price for good coffee and pastry.

Ekamai Terrace #2-4, Sukhumvit Soi 63 (Between Ekamai Soi 15 and 17)
Ph: +66 88 190 5950
Opening Hours: 12pm - 6pm on Saturday and Sunday only

ROAST CAFE
Image taken from Google.
To us, Roast is of the best cafes in Bangkok where you can't leave without coming here.

The cafe's menu consists of lots of comfort foods including a huge list of drinks, fluffy pancakes, waffles, French toast, burgers, tempting desserts and many more. Mrs. Nomnom was overwhelmed with the choices and took ages just to decide one. LOL

Mr. Nomnom's choice: Crab Cake Benedict
Roast's getting his coffee bean supplies from it's sister cafe, Roots. But it's not just that! Roast is the winner of the national barista championship in 2012, so this is definitely a must visit for coffee lovers.

2/F Seenspace, Thonglor 13, Bangkok
Ph: +66 21 852 865
Opening hours: 10am - 11pm (Mon - Thur), 9am - 12.30am (Fri - Sat), 9am - 11pm (Sunday)

MACHINE AGE WORKSHOP CAFE

If you have spare time and you like vintage thingie, after visiting Roots please drop by at this American vintage industrial like cafe. Feeling hungry or thirsty? Fear not! You can enjoy great selection of drinks and beers while having their famous pulled pork sandwich..

As for Mrs. Nomnom, this is the best place for having a "so-called-beauty-shoot" with all the vintage furnitures. Will post more about this place later. Stay tuned!

281/7 Ekamai Soi 15, Bangkok
Operating hours: 10am - 7pm on Tuesday - Sunday

KARMAKAMET DINER

This is a super gorgeus restaurant in Mrs. Nomnom's opinion. The space is very well-furnished and into every detail, from coasters that are folded from envelopes, to the newspapers used to line the tables.

The rustic wooden feeling you get when you enter this secret world feels like a kind of magic. As you enter, you are carried away from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok where you can sit for hours, listening to the soothing music while having a nice date. ;D

The one that really captured my heart was their selection of desserts. You really need to prepare a different tummy to try every single thing listed in the menu.. LOL

"Secret" - a moist chestnut cake topped with lavender ice cream and lavender choux creme. Served with a giant ball of cotton candy.
30/1 Sukhumvit Soi 24, Bangkok
Opening hours: 9am - 11pm daily

ROCKET BAR

Whether you feel like brunching or just grabbing a quick coffee. Rocket can answer all your needs.

Unlike most cafes, Rocket has a wide healthier choice of brunch. Go for their unique salads, such as Crab and Pineapple, Rocket Waldorf and many others.

Best of all, with its vast tea menu alongside the best coffee selection.. You can enjoy your dessert and sip away in pure delight.

Sathorn Soi 12
Opening hours: 7am - 11pm on Tuesday - Sunday
