As the weather finally warms up and just about the right time to answer Mr. Nomnom's ramen craving, I start paying attention to Ramen Zundo after hearing some recommendations to try their Tsukemen.

Located on an alley close to the Liverpool St side in World Square Shopping Centre, this ramen shop gives the Japanese vibe with its red and white hanging lantern and minimalist wall decoration. You can choose to sit outside as it's slightly more spacious than the inside and all orders are taken at the counter.

Their Pan-Fried Pork Gyoza unexpectedly came first after we're told they might need more time to serve this. Came with salty and tangy dipping sauce, these flavourful pork stuffed crescents gyoza were served with their brown crisp bottoms and chewy skins - I wouldn't ask for a better side dish!

Ramen Zundo was having a special Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen for 3 days last weekend. The tonkotsu broth was pale brown and richly flavoured - made by simmering pork bones more than 12 hours. The melt in your mouth slices of chashu were so fatty rich and tender. The noodles were firm in texture (just they way Mr. Nomnom prefers his noodle texture), thin and straight but enough to carry just the right amount of soup when slurped.

I decided to try Tsukemen Curry topped with roughly chopped chashu pieces. As for the soup, they blended their housemade curry sauce (from chicken broth base) with their signature pork broth to get that deeply rich Tsukemen soup. The texture and taste wise of tsukemen noodles were completely different as it was thicker (not as thick as udon), springy, firm with the right chewiness texture. We personally enjoy their Tsukemen more as it's much richer and comforting during warmer weather.
