Something For Jess - Chippendale

My friends know me very well.. They know I love eating veggies and fruits more than meats.. Hence, they recommended me this eclectic-but-homey spot called "Something for Jess"..

I heard that the owner and chef, Philip Ocampo, named this place cafe after his partner.. And to my surprise.. they didn't buy any of the furniture! They found it all on the street or were donated by their friends.. Now, I know why all of the furnitures were mismatched~~ LOL

One of the friendly waitress approached me and explained that their weekly specials were written on the wall and the wooden chalkboard besides me..

Looking at the menu.. I could say there're not many choices to choose from.. BUT to be honest.. I couldn't decide what I wanted to order!! I wanted them all!! My mind and my tummy're fighting against each other.. LOL LOL

On my second visit I went there with couple of my friends and Mr. RL decided to order their cold drip coffee..

At first, Mr. Nomnom ordered their Black Sesame Affogato and this one turned up on our table.. Judging from its colour, I knew this one was not our order.. Later, the waitress came and told us that they had no more black sesame and changed it to this.. I wasn't sure what flavour was the ice cream (I suspected it's Praline) but it went well with the espresso~~

Ms. GO and I decided to order both available sandwiches and shared it so we could taste both.. This one was Roast Beef Sandwich with Housemade Hummus, Braised Eggplant, White Zucchini, Avocado Puree and Provolone Cheese..

The other sandwich was Smoked Chicken with Beetroot Puree, Fresh Figs, Avocado, Braised Mushroom and Greek Feta..
Ms. GO said that their sandwich this time didn't leave a big impression for her compared to the other flavour she had tried before.

Hotdog de Tijuana with Lime, Corriander Sauce, Housemade Guacamole, Black Bean Salsa, Housemade Chili Jam, Hand-grated Cheese, Cabbage and Carrot Slaw..
This one was nice in overall but I guess it had too much "wet" ingredients in it so the bread went soggy very quick and it's a bit heavy to finish this down..

This one was my favorite! It's called Autumn Feast Bruschetta.. Roasted Sugar Plum Puree, Confit Golden Beetroot, Fresh Local Persimmons, Braised Maltese, Zucchini, Salsa Verde, Roasted White Yam, Ground Pistachio and topped with one organic poached egg (v)..

For all meat-eaters, don't freak out! This dish was actually SUPERB! I don't know what they did with all the fruits and veggies.. But all of these combinations were in sync and they completed each other~

As a meat-eater, Mr. Nomnom ordered this one.. It's their special menu of the day.. Roasted Pork Belly.. I forgot to take note the description of this dish.. Hence I couldn't describe it more than a plate of roasted pork belly with some veggies.. LOL

Two of my friends, Ms. NH and Ms. ET ordered this one.. Corn and Zucchini Rosti..
Pulled Smoked Rainbow Trout, Confit Heirloom Tomato, Fresh Figs, Fresh Avocado, Housemade Pear Relish, Roasted Red Capsicum Sauce and Mashed Greek Feta..

Unfortunately, Ms. ET couldn't finish her trout as she found too many small bones in it while Ms. NH kept on praising the fresh figs and luckily didn't find a single bone in her trout.. LOL poor Ms. ET~~

Overall I really love this place and definitely will be back for more.. The reason why I love this place the most is their freshness.. Every single ingredient on your plate are in-season, sourced from the local, burst in flavour and definitely nutritious..

Since they change the menu every week based on what's available.. You might not see the menu I posted here when you visit this place some time later.. But, that becomes one of many reasons to keep on coming back here, right? =D
